At Family Dental Care, we understand that a dental clinic visit can be challenging for nervous patients. That’s why we offer gentle Sleep Dentistry treatments in the form of IV Sedation and inhalation sedation to ensure you never skip your next dental assessment again.
Both methods are ideal for quelling patient fears or making lengthier procedures in the chair more comfortable. They are administered so patients can receive dental work without knowing or feeling a thing. Here’s how they work:
Intravenous (IV) Sedation – An anti-anxiety medication is injected into the bloodstream through a vein by an anaesthetist to induce a state of deep relaxation.
Inhalation Sedation – Nitrous oxide, commonly known as "laughing gas" is inhaled via a mask. This option is less invasive compared to IV sedation.
The Wand, also known as the single tooth anesthesia (STA) unit, helps to achieve more precise injections that are also comfortable for the patient, slow and steady.
These slower, automated injections reduce the 'stinging' sensation from a normal injection and patients generally feel more at ease as a result.
The injections are very precise, through their computer-assisted technology.
